i would like to do a family tree and trace all my ancestors back a long way, is there any site where you can obtain birth/death certs details free on line or do you have to open an account. Has anyone already done theirs, any tips, please!

You have come to the right place, many of us that watch this category have done ours and helped many.

Usually Birth and Death Certificates cost money. First place to look is the Town Vital Records (sometimes there is a web site). Then, City, then County, then State. I have some web sites below, but they cost more than a town certificate, as much as 10 times more ($4 versus $40).

I use most of the following web sites, but in addition, you should talk to your family, get all the living members, and interview them. Record their information, dates, pictures, wills, probate, etc. Then plot this information in a software program. You can get one for free from family Search (PAF), or look through the sites provided.

There are many many more sites than I am giving you, so, don’t think this is all there are. Specialties abound.

It seems to me that some people think that family history/ genealogy is irrelevant or boring, while others are interested or really absorbed in researching and learning about it. I am interested myself, and am wondering what about it gets other people interested (or really not interested if you want to answer). Thank you.

Most hobbies are like that. I know a fellow who saved for five years to go to Alaska and have a bush pilot fly him to a lake in the wilderness. He spent a week fighting black flies and living in a tent. He caught (and released) arctic char two to three feet long and as thick as my leg; he was in seventh heaven. I know another man who thinks "Roughing it" means staying in a hotel that doesn’t have valet parking.

Genealogy is like bird watching for me; a harmless hobby with the thrill of a (slow) chase and elements of a detective story. It’s also the closest most of us will ever get to a personal slice of history. If you are an American with European roots, someone in your tree probably fought in a war, stole land from the Indians, or came through Ellis Island with nothing more than a packet of clothes and the determination that their children would breathe free.

When I record a wedding in the backwoods of Virginia in 1803, I wonder – what it was like; did someone play the fiddle, and did they dance on the hard packed dirt between the house and the barn? A child is born in 1867 and dies in 1868; I thank the Lord that we have vaccines and antibiotics now. Someone comes over from Europe in 1754 with his family; I wonder if he called them to the rail of the ship and said, "Look! There it is, America! No one can step on you now just because you are a Huguenot." (Mennonite, Anabaptist, Italian, Irishman, Pole, Protestant, Catholic, Jew . . .)

Come on boy! get yourself together! life isnt all moping around waiting for the next best thing to happen. You gotta get out there, and try your best at everything you do in life. Study! Read! Go out with friends. Ditch those suckers/losers that will end up in the dumpster when their older because of drugs. youre much better for sure. You have to believe in yourself. and if your parents dont help, you got to help yourself. you cant expect there to be a motivation by itself. you got to help yourself before anyone could help you. start your life fresh. Ditch those drugs. And start studying. Education is the key to life!

In the early episodes of Family Matters "judy" was around quite alot…
in the later episodes she "dissappeared"

In 1992, when the series was entering its fourth season, Jaimee Foxworth’s character, Judy, started to become more of a background character than a supporting character. She would receive very few lines in her scripts if she even appeared in an episode at all. At this point she only appeared in episodes to fulfill contractual obligations. The character was never popular with fans due to the underdevelopment of the character. Jaimee Foxworth was let go when her mother made demands that Judy Winslow be developed in order to get Foxworth more money. Those demands were denied and Judy was cut from the series. The show then went on for the rest of its run as though she never existed, just remaining with two children of The Winslow Family: Laura Winslow and Eddie Winslow. Orlando Brown (Major Payne and That’s So Raven) would fill Foxworth’s shoes as an orphan named 3J, whom the Winslows adopt in 1996.

The writers of family matters were interested in bringing the character of Judy back had the show been renewed by CBS for a 10th season in 1998; she would have been played by Valerie Jones.

Her last apperance was in the episode "Mama’s Wedding", the 4th season finale.

With very little acting work coming in the years after Family Matters, Foxworth battled alcoholism, depression and destitution prompted in part by a judges’ ruling that her trust fund of over $500,000 be used to save her family from bankruptcy. Foxworth later switched briefly to adult films, her pornographic career lasting less than two years and including only a small amount of appearances. Foxworth later claimed that her parents had squandered her trust fund and she had no money to her name.

The most recent movies she has stared in were porn movies.

And Crow, you’re a mug if you believe your own twaddle. The BNP has nothing to do with patriotism and all to do with racism. If he sincerely cared about the British, he would help to dissolve this hate filled political party.
If you think that Britain would be better off under the BNP you are so seriously mistaken, they have tried hiding their party’s racist image behind the immigration problem in the uk, but like all politicians, they are liars. The BNP however are the most dangerous bunch.
